Perm the Capricious-Part I

Written by Manisaspor at 13:38 21/4-2016

Perm Tour Russia imho is one of the most difficult tours to win. You have some clear formulas in others, one way or another, but I have seen climbers win Perm, I have seen all-rounders win Perm, I have seen TTers win Perm, I have seen old riders winning Perm. The Siberian tour is against any conventional wisdom. Our team's best result came in against my conventional wisdom yet again. I will dedicate two more PRs to Perm and this one is the first one, covering our long history of failures in Perm.

  S 18
  Sabri Rasim Turkey 9th GC
  *******
Our first ever tour, our first ever legendary Turkish captain for those who do not know him, a high FR sprinter, he was supposed to target SC. Sabri had a great TT to sneak into the top 9. No result relevant to SC. For newer managers, here is a link about him before he won Orel-Kursk classic very late in his career: http://ocm.wikia.com/wiki/Sabri_Rasim

  S 26
Sabri Rasim Turkey 20th GC - Oblivion in SC
  *******
Again utter failure in SC. The season was the comeback from Division 8 where I fell from Zyte after an utter frustration to a CB-SP team which was dissolved unsuccessfully.

  S 30
  Senel Nedim Turkey 7th GC
  *******
Our first serious GC attempt, Nedim won the King’s Stage but had a bad day in the ITT so finished only seventh. Nedim had TF. Hlohovsky was third this season with Scorpions POPRAD, it was the time I decided to pursue him after a long stalking period.

  S 31
  Senel Nedim Turkey 6th GC
  Yasar Caglar Turkey 8th GC
  *******
While we were targeting a higher spot with Nedim, we had two top 9 spots. Nedim had a TF. I can't remember why Hlohovsky could not get in to his tour after being paid 300 K only for winning Perm. Probably I still believed I can win all of the mid-division tours with a Turkish rider :)

  S 33
  Senel Nedim 12nd GC
  *******
Nedim’s last attempt as a captain. A bad season. Sikora finished 26th with nonnies btw. Hlohovsky was not a captain? Why? I cannot remember. Probably not because of being a Turk. I was probably trying to conquer Norway and Perm at the same time.

  S 34
  Klement Hlohovský Slovakia 4th GC
Hüsnü Dilmen Turkey 8th GC / 3rd YC
  *******
Hlohovský’s only real attempt as a captain (so the era of nationalism was over), with full support. Only good enough for few stage top 10s and 4th place. Our rising tour star Hüsnü Dilmen rode a great ITT and CL stage as a TM, finishing 8th bringing us many extra points. He showed he can be successful when he is TT centered. The interesting note was Sikora finished 10th after a good ITT. Was it chance or a hint of what was coming?

  S 35
  Adrian Sikora Poland - 2nd??
  *******
Unless something extraordinary happens Sikora will be 2nd in Perm, our best result so far, at a very unexpected moment when we were not targeting Perm so totally unprepared for him. It was totally against my knowledge of the game.

Sikora had a great climbing stage with great support from three riders who had formerly had top 9 places in the GC. The stage tactics require a great thanks to Team Kernow.

With a second PR, we will share the background story and extend our thanks to the OCM chat community, whom I should thank for this result. I dedicate this result to them.

One final thing, Hlohovsky is so fired, two off days for a rider bought for a hefty 300 K only for this tour. If you want him just bid me RV+5 K to have him in the next few days. I will post my third forum thread about his transfer, apparently OCM community is very right about him being worthless :)

  Perm Results aka Failures
  *******
  7 x GC results
2 x 2 GC results in one tour
  1 x YC result
  1 x Perm Podium

But no single jersey. I hate you Siberia!

Love the PR! Persistance always pays off.

Manisaspor at 13:57 21/4-2016
@Don: Thx, i heard few very strong teams are intending to line up we will see.

@Stroopwafel: Dilmen will have TT center for sure but he may choose Norway or Volta. Captain will have TF, younger TMs and more equipment.

Stroopwafel at 13:54 21/4-2016
Any idea on next season's strategy yet? Will Dilmen get a chance to shine?

Schiavi di Don at 13:54 21/4-2016
